Welcome to the Member-site of the ISSBD
The ISSBD is proudly presenting you with a completely new membership system. From now on, member registration will be on one and the same account, you never will have to type information again that you already provided, online payment with Credit Card is made very easy (without leaving the site), and only minimal information will be collected in view of safety concerns and privacy regulations.
Account registration
Everybody, whether you are a member, were a member, or want to become a member, must start by making a new account. Account registration is a required first step (needed to log in to the member subdomain). It is free, remains valid as long as you like, is exclusively for the ISSBD, and is lean (just your name and email). Making an account is distinct from becoming a member. After creating an account, you will receive an email confirmation. The reason the new system requires existing members to make a new account is that we could not copy your password from the previous system maintained by SAGE (until 2023).
Log in
After making an account, you are not automatically logged in (for safety reasons). But you can immediately log in with your self-chosen password, and you don’t have to wait for the email confirmation. Once you are logged in, you will never have to re-enter information that you have already provided; all new forms will be automatically pre-populated with that information. If you forget your password, no problem – you can follow the lost password procedure. Never make a new account; email member@issbd.org in case of persistent problems!
Profile
In the profile form, you can enter your affiliation and street address information. Street address information may be required for reimbursements at some universities. More personal and career information can be entered. After submitting the form, the button Submit will change to Update. All information on this form can be updated at any time.
Membership registration
Becoming a member requires payment of your annual membership dues. Membership is valid to the end of the calendar year (January 1 to December 31). On the form, your account and profile information are pre-filled. After the payment was successful, you will see a green success message on screen; you can go back to the form (but you cannot change it as your payment is done). Under My-History, you can see a summary of all your membership information. In addition, you will receive two emails: one with an overview of all the information on this form, including a downloadable PDF receipt, and another with a receipt sent by our credit card processor.
How to pay?
Credit Card
We use Stripe to handle credit card payments. You only have to enter your credit card information.
After a successful payment, your Membership Status will change to ‘Completed’, and your User Role will be updated, allowing you to access new menu options, such as Benefits and Grants. Also, the button you just clicked, Submit, will change to Update.
Confirmation
How do I know my payment was successful? First, you will see a green success message on your screen immediately after submitting the form. Under ‘My-History’ (top menu), you can view a summary of your registration information, including a downloadable PDF receipt. Next, you will receive two emails: one with a receipt for the credit card payment and another with an overview of all the information, including your address, and a downloadable PDF receipt. Together, this should be sufficient for reimbursement from your employer. Additionally, you can return to the form, but not much can be changed (as you are not allowed to modify your payment). In case of problems, please don’t hesitate to contact the Webmaster (webmaster@issbd.org) or the Membership Manager (members@issbd.org). The form will be closed at the end of the year.
Failed Payments
If you have clicked on Submit but your payment was cancelled, did not go through, or if there were card issues, your status will continue to be indicated as “Waiting” and you will receive no emails. You can check if your status is “completed” or “waiting” on the My-History page or in the form you submitted, but please be patient.
In the event of a failed payment, the button ‘Submit’ on the form may be changed to ‘Update’. Since Updating does not affect your status, and does not allow payment anew, using it repeatedly does not help to solve this issue. In very rare cases, if the button is still on Submit, for example, if you try to go back, you may receive a warning that you cannot submit again.
To solve these problems, if your status does not change within 15 to 30 minutes, your entry will be automatically deleted. Once you receive an email message that your entry has been deleted, please try again.
Renewal
A new membership form allows you to pay for the following year.
Next year’s form will contain all the information copied from last year, so you typically only need to enter your credit card information (which we don’t store) and submit it. We decided not to charge you automatically (for consumer protection), so you will need to do this each year. However, we have made the process very user-friendly.
You cannot update to make changes in this form (it is the basis of your receipt and therefore fixed). However, you can go to your Profile form to make changes, if needed. After that, the new member form for next year will have the most recent information from your profile prefilled.
Existing members
If you were a user of the old website (managed by SAGE), you will still need to create a new account on the new site because an account requires a password (and only you should be able to set a password).
Reduced fees for multiple year memberships
The ISSBD has a long-standing tradition of offering reduced membership costs to members who pay for more than one year at a time. We respect and continue that tradition. The membership fees for the years following the current year will be 50% lower than the fees for the current year. However, these forms with reduced fees (e.g., for 2026, available in 2025) will be available only if you are a member for the current year. After the last day of the year, the forms will be updated to shift this arrangement a year ahead in time.
Reduced Regional Membership Fees
Residents of certain countries are eligible for a substantial fee reduction (based on World Bank categories for lending eligibility). See the section JOINING ISSBD.
General
I can’t fill in a field
If you cannot type in a field, it usually means the field is read-only (highlighted in blue on the perimeter of the box) because information should be retrieved from another form. You can go to the Form from which this information was supposed to be retrieved (e.g., account for affiliation or profile) and supply the requested information there, and then update here.
Update
Clicking the Update button allows you to make changes, such as a new address or affiliation. However, updating cannot be used to retry payments and does not affect your payment or registration status. To update information, best go back to the form you initially entered (or should have entered) the information. You will receive a confirmation email. Next, you may reconfirm the changes on dependent forms.
My-History
On the My-History page, you can see a summary of your memberships, registrations, and other submissions.
Problems?
If the Submit button does not seem to work, this may be caused by errors in one of the form fields. Scrutinize your form for error messages, which may be displayed in small print, in red, under a field or set of fields.
